| Compacted Wire Ropd |
|
| In a traditional wire
rope, its element wires cross each other at points
(Point-contact). To reduce the damaging effects
that element wires have on each other, parallel
laid (Line contact) ropes have been introduced.
By compacting a parallel-laid strand, it is possible
to achieve a surface-to-surface contact among the
element wires, which is most ideal in maintaining
the integrity of element wires during the use of
wire rope. With high-tech equipment and accumulated
experience, Kiswire currently produce compacted
wire ropes with various constructions. |

| Advantages
of Area Contact Rope |
Excellent Wear/Abrasion
Resistance
A rope in use experience both external abrasion
as well as internal abrasion. In a compacted
wire rope, all element wires form surface-to-surface
contacts with each other. Thus the pressure
exerted by one element wire on another element
wires is minimized, which in turn results
in minimized internal abrasion and wear. It
is also very unlikely that any broken wires
stand up during the service life of the rope.
|
| |
Rare Broken Wires
In a compacted rope, element wires do not
experience secondary bending. Also, swelling
of inner wires due to internal wear and internal
corrosion is very rare. Therefore, even when
used under worst conditions with heavy loads,
compacted ropes are very durable. Also, with
reduced additional bending of element wires,
the element wires rarely break due to fatigue
caused by repeated bending. Against repeated
bending fatigue, compacted ropes last 1.5
~ 2 times longer than point-contact or line-contact
ropes of the same construction. |
| |
Excellent Corrosion
Resistance
In non-compacted ropes, water, debris and
other foreign materials can easily penetrate
through the gaps between element wires. In
a compacted rope, there are virtually no gaps
between element wires making it extremely
difficult for foreign corrosive materials
to penetrate.
|
| |
Strong Against Deformation
|
| |
Higher breaking strength per Diameter
Larger effective metallic cross section of
compacted rope provides higher breaking strength
when compared with round rope with same diameter.
Therefore, it is possible to use smaller diameter
rope.
|
| |
Easy to handle (Lang¡¯s Lay Compact
Rope)
Round rope with Lang¡¯s Lay is very difficult
to handle for it easily untwist itself and
develop kinks. However, compacted ropes are
easier to handle even when produced with Lang¡¯s
Lay. Compacted ropes can also be fabricated
with same ease as regular ropes when pressed,
spliced , clipped or M-type socketed.
|
| |
Prolongs life time of drum sheave
Compacted rope meet the drum or sheave at
surface and does not wear them partially at
points as regular ropes do. Thus, drum or
sheave last longer when used with compacted
ropes.
